Founded in 1947, General Tours is one of the oldest and most experienced tour companies in the United States. The company's guiding philosophy originated at the Geneva Peace Conference following the Second World War with a mission to build bridges of understanding between North America and Eastern Europe. River cruises are rated according to the quality of the vessel and its accommodations, the number of included amenities and activities both on and off the ship, the class of hotels used for land portions of itineraries, and the level of service delivered. General Tours river cruises are categorized as deluxe on the industry rating scale (budget, first class and deluxe).

Deluxe = Rhone River cruises typically range from $250 to $650 per person, per day, plus airfare.
